Sylvia Lily is a Canadian indie author, singer-songwriter, and the creative force behind Evergreen Peaks, a horror-drama novel set in the haunted forests of Northern Ontario. The story follows a tree-planting program gone sinister, blending eerie suspense with immersive storytelling.
After amassing 70k+ streams on their debut EP Evergreen Peaks in 2024, husband-wife duo Sylvia Lily & Calm Canopy return with Yukon Lost, a heartfelt indie pop/rock anthem recalling Sylvia discovering her lost Canadian Indigenous roots.
Talking about the single, Sylvia Lily said “This song tells the story of discovering my Indigenous roots after my father, who was adopted, received a letter revealing our ancestry. Though he was born in Ontario, we learned our band is the Vuntut Gwitchin in Old Crow, Yukon. In 2016, we traveled to the remote fly-in community with only a last name, guided by the kindness of elders who helped us trace our family through archives and residential school records. Years later, we reunited with our loving family. Yukon Lost captures that journey—our nerves, uncertainty, and the feeling of both being lost and also a part of us found. This song is 100% CANCON, as it was written, recorded, and produced together with my husband who performs as Calm Canopy, a Canadian indie rock recording artist who has been featured on 9 Spotify Editorial playlists since his first release in 2020”.

Sylvia Lily’s father was adopted, and while her family always knew of their First Nations heritage, the details remained a mystery—until a 2016 government letter revealed their connection to the Vuntut Gwitchin. Armed with only a birth surname and countless questions, Sylvia traveled to Old Crow, a remote fly-in community in Northern Yukon, Canada.
Produced by Calm Canopy at their studio in Brant, Ontario, Yukon Lost explores the fear of not belonging but ultimately celebrates identity, connection, and the community’s kindness that brought a family back together.

Expanding this universe, she collaborated with her husband and indie rock producer Calm Canopy to create the Evergreen Peaks indie-pop EP, featuring singles “Wine Witch” and “Flow”, where each track mirrors the novel’s chapters and characters.
