TommyG’s Taking His Talents and Soul to the City That Never Sleeps

If you haven’t heard of TommyG yet, you’re about to. At just 13 years old, this Katy, Texas native is about to take the biggest bite out of the Big Apple – and the music world – that any teen could dream of. This June, TommyG (real name Thomas Ramirez) is packing his bags and heading to New York City, where he’ll join the ranks of the country’s most promising young talents at the Joffrey Ballet School’s Musical Theater Summer Intensive. And if that’s not enough, he’ll barely have time to catch his breath before hitting the stage as part of a global band at the 4th Annual Come Together Festival by Kids Rock for Kids (KRFK) in July. If you’re looking for the next big thing, keep your eyes on this kid.

TommyG’s story starts like all the best stories do: with a spark. In primary school, he was the kid who couldn’t wait for the next assembly or talent show—any excuse to get up and sing. When COVID hit and the world slowed down, TommyG only sped up, doubling down on singing lessons and jumping at every chance to perform, from local bands to community events in Katy and beyond. Most recently, he had a standout moment at his school’s May pop show, where his performance of “Die with a Smile” was a crowd favorite. He’s not just a singer either—he’s a soccer and football fanatic, and that energy comes through in everything he does.

But let’s talk about New York. The Joffrey Ballet School is a Broadway boot camp where the best of the best come to sharpen their skills. After a tough audition, TommyG landed a spot in this ultra-competitive program, where he’ll spend his days learning songs and choreography inspired by Broadway blockbusters like The Lion King, Wicked, Boop, Hell’s Kitchen, and Smash. He’ll be dancing, acting, singing, and learning how to nail auditions – all under the watchful eyes of Broadway’s top pros. It’s the kind of training that turns raw talent into show-stopping performers, and TommyG is ready to soak up every minute.

And then, just when you think his summer couldn’t get any bigger, TommyG is set to join a handpicked global band for the 4th Annual Come Together Festival by Kids Rock for Kids in New York. The details are still hush-hush, but here’s what we know: KRFK is all about bringing together young musicians from around the world, giving them a stage, and letting them shine. TommyG’s band will be tackling some killer covers, and while the setlist is still under wraps, you can bet he’ll bring the same energy and heart that’s turning heads in Texas.

Of course, he’s not forgetting his Texas roots. This summer, TommyG will also be hitting the stage at Opry events in Alvin, Texas, belting out country classics like Vince Gill’s “Liza Jane,” Zac Brown’s “Chicken Fried,” and Chris Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey.” It’s a chance to show off his range and pay homage to the music that shaped him, all while keeping it real for his hometown fans.

If you want to know what TommyG is all about, just listen to his original song, “Good Life Lovin’.” Released last July, it’s three and a half minutes of pure summer joy – think beach days, good friends, and the freedom to live life your way. The chorus says it all: “We’re good life lovin’ and we’re living our own way.” It’s the kind of song that makes you want to roll the windows down and sing at the top of your lungs. And if you missed his earlier single “SIO,” do yourself a favor and check it out on YouTube. This kid’s got hooks for days.

With a summer packed full of Broadway dreams, country classics, and global festival gig, it’s safe to say this is just the beginning. He’s got the talent, the drive, and the heart to go the distance – and if you’re not following him yet, now’s the time. Check out his music on Spotify, catch him on Instagram (@thomasra_) and TikTok (@tgrr11), and get ready to say you knew him when.
