Exclusive Brand New Sound interview with ‘Michelle Ariane’

What inspired your passion for music?

I always loved the way music made me feel. It was such a soothing element in my day to day life, that it became my companion. Once l realized l could create it myself and touch other peopleā€™s lives with it, a whole new world opened up for me that l hope to be exploring for the rest of my life.

What are your goals for 2020?

I guess it got turned on its head a little bit – this year of 2020. I would say my goals have remained the same: I want to continue to connect people with each other. l hope for that to happen through my music, through live shows (online / in person) or through networking. I would like to create positive ripple effect wherever I can.

How do you feel about connecting with your fans via social media?

I have somewhat of a mixed relationship with it. I love the fact that we can connect around the globe simply by tapping a few buttons. This gives me the chance to fans in Russia, Canada, the US Europe and even the the Democratic Republic of the Congo!
On the other hand I find it difficult, because you have to post so much to stay relevant and to be featured in everyoneā€™s timeline. All of a sudden you feel more like a product in less than like a personā€¦ That part I struggle with.

Whatā€™s your favorite quote?

ā€œI have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bearā€, MLK
This quote has inspired me to my own tagline ā€œMusic is Love, share the loveā€.

Please tell us a bit about your new song ā€œFinally Be Meā€?

When l wrote it with my friend Jacky Desage, we wanted it to show the broken parts left behind after a relationship parts ways. I know how much it takes to put yourself back together again. But l also wanted the song to reflect the empowering part that a breakup can have. I learned to never compromise my true self again and ā€˜Finally being meā€™ has brought me to a happier place in life than l ever couldā€™ve dreamed.
So the message is: you feel broken and itā€™s ok. But trust that you will come out the other end being stronger and better than before.
